Price Triggers
Having a 24/7 presence enables you respond to short term variations in gas prices by changing your storage flows. If prices rise you can turn on withdrawal or turn off injection and sell into the market. If prices fall you can turn off withdrawal or turn on injection and buy from the market. You set the trigger prices based on your view of the curve and we take the short term actions that result. Prices variations outside the normal working day mean that if you do not vary your position then you are losing out.
Additional Rights
It may be that additional injection or withdrawal rights can be secured to further optimise your response to short term prices. For example, in the case of Rough users have the ability to apply for extra injection or withdrawal rights on a short term basis.
Capacity Management
Beyond the rights relating to the storage facility, there is often the need to manage rights relating to entry or exit from the transit network.
